Julio Rodriguez Almost Had The Injury Of The Century On Sunday

Let’s get something straight here; I am NOT a Mariners fan. I do not follow the Mariners, I am not from Seattle, and I don’t see myself caring about this team any time soon. BUT, as someone who’s loyal to a particular Major League Baseball team, I have to say…..this was one of the most terrifyingly comedic moments I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Julio Rodriguez, for those of you who are unaware, is one of the brightest young stars that Major League Baseball has to offer. Sure, some people believe that he’s “overrated.” Some think that he’s “all show and no go,” even though he has a stat-line consisting of;

.259 BA, 24 HRs, 69 RBIs, .771 OPS

But regardless of all that…..he is, WITHOUT QUESTION, one of the most important pieces of Seattle’s offense. Minus C Cal Raleigh, who has been on an MVP like tear as of late; the Mariners NEED their 24-year old CF in the lineup if they want to make any kind of run in the postseason.

He is a pivotal part of this team’s roster, whether you like it or not. So when this security woman accidentally took the 3x All-Star’s legs out from under him…..chances are it left the entire city of Seattle speechless. Chances are the collective butt-holes of “The Emerald City’s” residents were clenched so tight, to the point where a full bottle of laxatives couldn’t make an escape.

It was rough to watch. But having said that…….could you IMAGINE if this was the moment that sent Julio to the IL for the rest of the season? THAT would end up going on the “follies” list of injuries for the MLB; which already includes Freddie Freeman messing up his ankle in a shower, and Aroldis Chapman getting a leg infection from a tattoo.

For the record; I wasn’t hoping for an injury here. No one wants to see a player get hurt. But for one of this league’s stars to be involved in an accident like this during a “specialty event” during the season? That’s just not a good look. That’s not a good look for anyone involved.

I’m glad everyone was ok, and I feel bad for the security woman. She was just trying to do her job, and she slipped on the piece of cardboard that was on the hill. But OH BOY…..this could’ve ended A LOT WORSE than it actually did.

But in the end…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
