2025 Auburn Football: Season Preview, Schedule & Predictions

2024 SEASON-IN-REVIEW

Record: 5-7

It was a lost season for Auburn. An ugly loss to Cal in Week 2 began a downfall where the Tigers lost five out of six games. A difficult SEC schedule was too much for Auburn in 2024 but it will look to rebound with a nw quarterback.

OFFENSE: New Era Means Could Mean New Results

It is time for a new option under center for the Tigers. Jackson Arnold transfers in from Oklahoma after getting his feet wet for the Sooners.

Arnold finished with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. He uses his legs well within the offense and can bring a new dynamic to Auburn. Arnold will have a strong group of pass catchers to work with. Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton and Wake Forest’s Horatio Fields will be important on the outside.

Cam Coleman returns as one of the SEC’s best receivers this season. He finished with eight touchdowns last season while Malcolm Simmons was second on the team with 40 catches.

Along the offensive line, the Tigers return all three interior lineman from last season. At the tackle positions, Hugh Freeze hit the portal. Xavier Chaplin comes in from Virginia Tech to be the left tackle while Mason Murphy signed to compete on the right side.

DEFENSE: There’s Always Room for Improvement

The Tigers defense was good in a difficult SEC last season. But there is always room to get better.

Auburn did not generate enough turnovers while struggling on third down. If both issues are cleaned up, there is a chance for Auburn to become a power once again.

The defensive front has been the strength for Auburn in the past and it will be once again. Keldric Faulk is an NFL-caliber defensive tackle who is expected to be one of the first players taken. He leads a group that can be effective getting to the quarterback.

Kalen Harris is another elite member of the defense. He is among the top safeties in the conference heading into the season. The corners will also be a strength with Champ Anthony returning from a leg injury. If he can get back to full strength, the sky is the limit in the secondary.
