Predicting NL West 2025 All-Star Game picks
With the abundance of star power in the NL West, it’s not too early to start projecting who will represent their teams at the 20205 MLB All-Star Game in July. The NL West will supply plenty of heavy hitters to the NL roster.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo
Carroll will be back by popular demand. He’s currently slugging .550 with a .877 on-base plus slugging percentage. He’s tied for fifth in the league with 16 home runs, and he has 10 stolen bases. Perdomo will join Carroll in his second career ASG since the Diamondbacks went to the World Series. After signing a four-year contract extension, Perdomo is having the best offensive season of his career, slashing .283/.382/.434 with 41 RBIs and 34 walks. Carroll and Perdomo have provided powerful bats to Arizona’s offensively-loaded team.
Colorado Rockies: Hunter Goodman
Amid a struggling Rockies roster, Goodman has been the best and most consistent hitter on the squad. He has a .273 batting average with 34 RBIs and leads Colorado in nearly every hitting category. Although Jake Bird is having an All-Star-caliber season, it’s hard to believe Colorado’s sole representative would be a relief pitcher and not a position player.
Los Angeles Dodgers: Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernández, Will Smith, Andy Pages, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto
The Dodgers have enough first and second-team All-Stars to make up half a lineup. Freeman (.368/.435/.621, 38 RBIs), Ohtani (.292 BA, .661 SLG, 1.05 OPS, 64 Rs, 23 HRs), Hernández (.289 BA, .533 SLG, 42 RBIs), and Smith (.331 BA, .500 SLG) need no explanation. All of these stars have been to the ASG before.
Although Pages’ stats aren’t as lofty, his breakout year performance will be rewarded. After seven years in the minors and a bumpy rookie season last year, he’s slashing .282/.330/.479 with 38 RBIs. His teammates’ success may overshadow his rapid improvement, but the strong Dodgers fan base should be enough to vote Pages in as a reserve.
With the second-best odds of winning the NL Cy Young this year, Yamamoto has quickly pitched his way into All-Star contention. He holds a 2.39 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, limiting hitters to 77 runs through 12 starts. Yamamoto will soon surpass his strikeout total of last year, as he currently sits at 77, and it’s only the beginning of June. With his impressive pitching performance, there’s no question whether he’ll be an All-Star.
San Diego Padres: Manny Machado and Robert Suárez
Machado is hitting as well as he ever has. The veteran slugger has an impressive .302 batting average and .479 slugging percentage, with 40 runs. Machado has been the best hitter on the Padres and has done plenty enough to play in his sixth ASG. Suárez has been lights-out as the Padres closer and is practically guaranteed to pitch at least one frame in Atlanta. He has a career-best 1.99 ERA and 0.77 WHIP and has accumulated nearly as many strikeouts as innings pitched. And if that’s not enough, Suárez’s league-leading 19 saves will tip him into his second All-Star honor.
San Francisco Giants: Jung Hoo Lee and Logan Webb
Lee has become a Bay Area and league favorite in his first three months playing American professional baseball. He has a .274 batting average, 63 hits, and 14 doubles. He’s been a solid hitter, and his rapid rise in popularity will be plenty to make him an ASG participant. Webb is another Giants and MLB favorite who has surprisingly only been named an All-Star once in his career. He has only blundered once in his 12 starts, carrying a 2.55 ERA and 91 strikeouts over roughly 80 innings. It would be surprising if Webb isn’t named an All-Star.
