WWE Speed Championships Coming to NXT

WWE tried an interesting experiment by creating “Speed” matches with three-minute time limits.

These matches aired on X (formerly known as Twitter). The championship matches had five-minute time limits.

X is no longer showing the matches, so the Speed division is coming to NXT. El Grande Americano is the men’s Speed champion, and Sol Ruca has the women’s Speed belt.

A tournament to declare the next women’s challenger will begin on next week’s episode of NXT. The four competitors will be:

·      Candice LeRae from Smackdown

·      Lainey Reid from NXT

·      Xia Brookside from TNA

·      Faby Apache from Mexico’s AAA promotion

FROM CHALLENGER TO PARTNER

Ricky Saints staked his claim to an NXT title match to open the show. Josh Briggs came out to say he deserved a shot at Oba Femi’s belt at No Mercy on Sept. 27.

NXT General Manager Ava set up a No. 1 contender’s match, and Saints won with a tornado DDT.

Femi came to the ring for a staredown with Saints, but the four-man Dark State team attacked both men.

Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, who lost the NXT tag team title to Dark State on Sunday at Heatwave, made the save to set up an eight-man tag team match for next week.

Lexis King defeated Myles Borne in a blindfold match by blinding the referee with an eye poke. King removed his hood and hit the Coronation slam for the victory.

LOTS OF WOMEN’S WRESTLING

Jordynne Grace is still angry about losing to Blake Monroe. Grace appeared at ringside when Monroe was wrestling Kelani Jordan.

Monroe tried to leave the ring, but Grace threw her back inside. Jordan hit a suplex and a split-legged moonsault to score the upset win over Monroe.

The Culling’s duo of Tatum Paxley & Izzi Dame defeated Wren Sinclair & Kendal Grey. Dame pinned Sinclair after a powerbomb.

Tyra Mae Steele bounced back from her loss at Heatwave to defeat Alba Fyre.

Chelsea Green jumped Steele after the match, but Tavion Heights stopped her. “All Ego” Ethan Page attacked Heights and buried him under the Canadian flag.

In the main event, Sol Ruca, Lola Vice & Zaria defeated Fatal Influence when Vice pinned Fallon Henley after a backfist.
