WWE Smackdown: Sami Zayn Wins the US Championship in France
We eat French fries and French toast in America, so it’s not out of the question for a wrestler to win the United States title in France.
Sami Zayn, who is French Canadian, thrilled the WWE Smackdown fans in Lyon by winning the US belt from Solo Sikoa on Friday.
Sikoa’s “My Family Tree” faction (JC Mateo, Talla Tonga and Tanga Loa) interfered until Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso turned the tide.
This cleared the way for Zayn to hit a pair of Heluva Kicks to win the championship.
FINAL WAR OF WORDS
The show started with Logan Paul trading insults with John Cena ahead of tomorrow’s match at Clash in Paris.
Paul took credit for the company’s success, calling it “W-W-Me.” Cena said that Paul wouldn’t ruin wrestling, but wrestling would ruin him.
Alexa Bliss defeated Chelsea Green in the opening match, but she and Charlotte Flair were attacked by Green and her Secret Hervice after the bout.
In another women’s “match,” Michin pinned Kiana James in five seconds.
I guess we’re not supposed to take James seriously as a wrestler, as she is the mouthpiece for women’s US champion Giulia. They beat up Michin after the match.
WHERE’S CODY?
Drew McIntyre is feuding with Randy Orton while continuing to talk about Cody Rhodes. Their brawl was interrupted by Shane Helms and some security guards, and Orton gave them the RKO.
Rhodes, the WWE champion, has been filming the “Street Fighter” movie. He and Brandi Rhodes also welcomed their second daughter this week.
The Street Profits defeated The Miz & Carmelo Hayes to earn at shot at the Wyatt Sicks’ WWE tag team title at Clash in Paris.
Tomorrow’s show will air on Peacock at 2 p.m. Eastern.
