WWE NXT: New Stars Jump Into the Spotlight
NXT is the place where fans get their first look at the future stars of WWE Raw and Smackdown.
WWE also has a couple of TV shows in which newcomers try to make it onto the NXT roster. Those wrestlers are starting to make an impact.
Sean Legacy won his first NXT match in last night’s opener, upsetting Je’Von Evans and Ashante “Thee” Adonis in a triple threat match.
Legacy is part of the WWE ID program, in which the company supports several promising independent wrestlers.
The WWE ID wrestlers compete on a show called Evolve, which airs Thursday nights on Tubi.
Jasper Troy and Tyra Mae Steele also debuted after winning the first season of LFG, a competition show on A&E. Undertaker, Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Mickie James are the coaches.
Troy attacked NXT champion Oma Femi during a confrontation with his Battleground challenger, Myles Borne.
MUSICAL BATTLE
Trick Williams rapped about how TNA champion Joe Hendry is just an “Average Joe.”
Hendry performed a concert to end the show, singing about he was going to “Whoop That Trick” this Sunday at the Battleground show on Peacock.
WOMEN’S ACTION
Lola Vice defeated Fallon Henley, who collided with her Toxic Attraction partner, Jacy Jayne. They bickered after the match.
A similar miscommunication took place in the other women’s match. Kelani Jordan defeated Zaria, who accidentally speared her buddy, Sol Ruca.
Jordan will face Ruca for the women’s North American title at Battleground.
OTHER BOUTS
Shawn Spears defeated Josh Briggs after interference from The Culling. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger saved Briggs from a post-match attack.
Bronco Nima & Lucien Price (OTM) defeated Kale Dixon & Uriah Connors, with Andre Chase. After being closed for several months, Chase University is back in business.
Next week, Ricky Saints will defend the North American title against “All Ego” Ethan Page.
