WWE NXT: Blake Monroe Jumps to the Front of the Line of Contenders
Mariah May made a big splash last week when she debuted in WWE NXT as Blake Monroe.
This week, eight contenders battled for a shot at NXT women’s champion Jacy Jayne. But Monroe, a former AEW women’s champion, didn’t have to wait.
During Monroe’s contract signing, Jayne came to the ring for a confrontation, along with her Fatal Influence friends.
While they beat up the newcomer to end the show, it’s clear that Monroe will be getting a title shot soon.
THE BATTLE BEGINS
Meanwhile, those eight contenders began a tournament for a title shot against Jayne.
Thea Hail thought she had defeated Jaida Parker by submission, but the referee didn’t see Parker tap out. Parker rallied to win with the “Hipnotic” hip attack.
Lash Legend defeated former North American women’s champion Kelani Jordan.
Izzi Dame (with The Culling) upset Zaria with a sit-out powerbomb, and Jordynne Grace defeated Lola Vice.
The winners will compete next week in a four-way match for a shot at Jayne’s title at Evolution 2 on July 13.
MOB WARS and TNA FIGHTS
“The Don” Tony D’Angelo is competing with his former underboss, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, for the loyalty of Luca Crusifino.
Yoshiki Inamura, Josh Briggs, and Elijah defeated AJ Francis, Wes Lee & Trick Williams.
Inamura pinned Trick to earn a chance at the TNA title next week, but he gave the title shot to Briggs. Why? Because he wants to be NXT champion.
