Lucha Libre wrestling is getting more popular in the United States. WWE recently purchased the No. 2 Mexican promotion, AAA.

Meanwhile, AEW will team up with the top promotion in Mexico, CMLL, for Grand Slam Mexico on June 18.

WWE will present Worlds Collide in partnership with AAA on Saturday at 3 p.m. from Los Angeles. Money in the Bank will take place at 7 p.m. on Peacock.

Worlds Collide was also the name of a groundbreaking 1994 pay-per-view that was co-promoted by World Championship Wrestling.

Let’s take a look back at the 1994 show before looking at this weekend’s Lucha Libre card.

WORLDS COLLIDE 1994

The show opened with minis action, as Mascarita Sagrada teamed with Octagoncito to beat Jerrito Estrada & Espectrito.

A traditional six-man Lucha match saw Psicosis, Fuerza Guerrera & Louie “Madonna’s Boyfriend” Spicolli defeat Rey Misterio Jr., Latin Lover & Heavy Metal.

Former WWF Intercontinental champion Tito Santana teamed with 2 Cold Scorpio and Chris “Pegasus Kid” Benoit to beat Blue Panther, La Parka & Jerry Estrada.

The next bout was one of the greatest Lucha Libre matches ever. El Hijo del Santo & Octagon beat Eddy Guerrero & Love Machine Art Barr.

With the victory, Hijo saved his father’s legendary silver mask, while the rudos lost their hair.

In the main event, Perro Aguayo defeated Konnan in a bloody steel cage match.

WORLDS COLLIDE 2025

Chad Gable will challenge for the AAA Mega championship against El Hijo del Vikingo. Last weekend, Vikingo won the title from former WWE champion Alberto del Rio.

“All Ego” Ethan Page will defend the NXT North American title against Laredo Kid, Rey Fenix and Je’Von Evans.

Stephanie Vaquer will team with Lola Vice against the AAA team of Chik Tormenta & Dalys.

WWE and AAA stars will also battle in a pair of traditional six-man Lucha bouts.

Legado del Fantasma (Angel, Berto & Santos Escobar) will take on Psycho Clown, Pagano & El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.

Dragon Lee, Cruz del Toro & Lince Dorado will battle Octagon Jr., Aero Star & Mr. Iguana.
