Wings Won’t Trade Arike Ogunbowale Despite Impending Free Agency

One of the WNBA’s most interesting speculations has all but been put to rest.

Barring a drastic change from now until Thursday’s trade deadline, the Dallas Wings do not plan on trading Arike Ogunbowale, per sources.

Ogunbowale is experiencing the lowest scoring output of her career, averaging just 15.7 points on 36% shooting.

The offensive struggles, combined with the fact that Ogunbowale is in the final year of a three-year, $725,95 contract extension, have led many to believe that the Wings would be better off trading her.

However, Dallas reportedly believes that they can re-sign Ogunbowale when she hits the open market as part of a star-studded 2026 free agency class.

Despite the struggles this season, there’s no one doubting how much Ogunbowale means to the Wings franchise.

Since being drafted fifth overall in 2019, Ogunbowale has made four all-star teams, won all-star MVP twice, made four all-WNBA teams, and, most importantly, has become the Wings all-time leading scorer.

Moving forward, it’s clear the Wings believe that Ogunbowale and superstar rookie point guard Paige Bueckers will be the pillars for a successful franchise.

Sources confirmed that both Ogunbowale and Bueckers have been informed of the Wings recent moves, including the trade that sent Dijonai Carrington to the Minnesota Lynx.

Yet another sign that Dallas believes in the core that they have to move the franchise forward, and it starts with the duo nicknamed “Parike”.
