Top Running Backs in the MAC Heading into the 2025 College Football Season
The MAC has some of the top talent in the nation across the board and that includes running backs.
The conference has produced an abundance of talent at the running back position over the years. In 2025, there will be a lot more talent taking the field ready to dominate in the trenches.
As we prepare for the 2025 season, we will be taking a look at some of the best players at skill positions around the nation.
Below, check out the top running backs in the MAC for the 2025 season.
5. Sieh Bangura, Ohio
Bangura is back at Ohio after leading the team in rushing in 2022 and 2023. He transferred to Minnesota last year, where he did not get much time. Now, he is back with the Bobcats and is the favorite to lead the team in rushing again.
4. Telly Johnson, Northern Illinois
Johnson took over as a major weapon midway through the season in 2024. He logged 85 carries in the final six games, totaling 424 yards and four touchdowns. This season, he will get the full workload from the opening week.
3. Jalen Buckley, Western Michigan
Buckley is a former winner of the MAC Freshman of the Year award. Jaden Nixon has moved on within the offense and Buckley’s role will only increase this season.
2. Chip Trayanum, Toledo
Toledo will be Trayanum’s fourth school of his career. He was a four-star recruit who spent time at Ohio State and Arizona State before landing at Kentucky in 2024. Now, he brings high expectations to the Rocket offense this season.
1. Al-Jay Henderson, Buffalo
Henderson was the second-leading rusher in the MAC last season. He led Buffalo with 1,078 yards and will return as the top back in the conference. Henderson helped Buffalo turn in one of its best seasons in program history.
