Top 10 SEC QBs for 2025 College Football Season
The 2025 College Football season is just two months away and teams are beginning to take shape.
One of the top conferences in the nation is the SEC and many top quarterbacks will take the field to lead their teams.
For the most part, there are returners that will bring experience while some newcomers will look to make a name for themselves.
Below, check out the Top 10 quarterbacks for the SEC season.
10. Taylen Green, Arkansas
Green has a chance to burst onto the scene as an NFL prospect as the season goes on. He threw for 3,154 yards last season while also showing his ability using his legs at 6-foot-6. Green is an intriguing option heading into the season.
9. Ty Simpson, Alabama
Simpson has been in the system behind Jalen Milroe. He got a chance to sit back and learn Kalen DeBoer’s system last year and is now stepping into the starting role. Will the transition be smooth? That is yet to be seen but Simpson has the high expectations that comes with being an Alabama QB.
8. Jackson Arnold, Auburn
Auburn struggled during the 2024 season. This led to additions in the transfer portal with Arnold coming in to play quarterback. The former Oklahoma starter will get a better offensive line and improved weapons for the Tigers. Auburn has major steps to make offensively this season.
7. Austin Simmons, Ole Miss
Ole Miss was an explosive offense with Jaxson Dart and the same is expected of Simmons. The Rebels believe they are in a good spot with Simmons taking over under center.
6. John Mateer, Oklahoma
Mateer might have been the prized possession in the transfer portal this offseason. He landed with the Sooners and excitement is there in Norman. Mateer showed what he could do at Washington State. He has a big arm and can extend plays in the pocket. Mateer seems made for the SEC.
5. Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
Can Pavia take Vanderbilt into the SEC title conversation? This is a place the Commodores have not been but with a quarterback like Pavia returning, anything is possible. He has his breakout game during the upset of Alabama and can now build off what the team accomplished last season.
4. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
Sellers was night and day as a redshirt freshman. He led the Gamecocks to a 6-0 record down the stretch of the season. He totaled 1,917 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns in that span. Sellers enters the 2025 season as arguably the hottest quarterback in the conference.
3. DJ Lagway, Florida
Lagway was a breakout freshman last year. The Gators worked to make sure they improve Lagway by building what might be the best offensive line in the SEC. If Lagway is healthy, he is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation.
2. Arch Manning, Texas
There is no quarterback with more hype than Manning heading into the season. Of course, his name has a lot to do with it but Manning was dynamic when he stepped on the field. He got the chance to use his legs many times and is expected to be an elite passer as well. Manning is a Heisman for 2025.
1. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
Nussmeier has the chance to emerge as the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Nussmeier has struggled with turnovers. This has been his major issue during his career. Entering his second year as the starter, Nussmeier is expected to come in with more poise and maturity. This could mean good things for the Tigers.
