These Are The Three Most UNBREAKABLE Records In Sports
This past Friday, my friends and I over at “Just The BetSlips” published the ninth episode of our podcast, where we talked about some of the most unbreakable records in sports history. We dove DEEP into the various statistics and moments from the four major sports, and ranked the feats that we feel will NEVER be broken.

It was a great time had by all, and something that ANY sports fan can enjoy. But to celebrate this walk through history, and the conversations that our crew had, I thought it would be fun to relive the selections that I brought to the program. I thought it would be a great idea to dive deep into my “takes,” to see what all of YOU think of them.
1. Cy Young’s 749 Complete Games:
Cal Ripken’s iron man record. Barry Bonds’ (tainted) home run record. Rickey Henderson’s stolen bases record. These are just some of the monumental feats from over the years that people tout as the “greatest ever.” But to me……these accomplishments don’t even COMPARE to Cy Young, and his 749 complete games.
Think about this, sports fans; for someone to break Cy Young’s mark, they would need to pitch for (roughly) 23 years in the Majors, while completing a full battery of starts each year (roughly 33). No sick days, no injuries, and no bullpen. They would just have to go out there and throw, which is something that has become a rarity in baseball nowadays.
If someone can even come CLOSE 100 in their career, it will be an accomplishment. But no one will EVER come close to the greatness of Cy.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-Straight Losses (1976-1977):
The Bucs aren’t the “flashiest” franchise in the entire league. They currently play in one of the weakest (if not THE weakest) divisions in all of football, and needed the greatest quarterback of all time to help them win their most recent championship. So to see that they currently hold the longest losing streak in the history of the league is not the biggest surprise to me.
But when it comes to if their streak will stand the test of time? I don’t see this mark EVER being broken. This league has changed drastically ever since Tampa’s “string of suckage” back in the day. The introduction of free agency in 1993 has made the league much more fluid, and has given teams a greater chance to compete on a yearly basis. But not only that; there’s also only been TWO (full) winless seasons since 1976, which means that teams are more likely to fall ass-backwards into a win than to get skunked in a given year.
Simply put; don’t be surprised if those ‘creamsicle-clad’ creations from the south sit in the leagues basement for the rest of eternity.
3. A.C. Green’s 1,192 Consecutive Games Played:
The National Basketball Association has changed DRASTICALLY ever since the days of A.C. Green. The phrase “load management” has become a real strategy, where teams with high-profile players rest their starters to make sure that they don’t wear-down too much throughout the season. Not only that; players just……don’t want to play as much as the men who came before them.
So because of that, when you look at this streak that Lakers’ great A.C. Green went on, you have to think to yourself; “this number is NEVER going to be touched.” You have to think to yourself; “the thought of someone going 14+ seasons in the league without missing a game is CRAZY TOWN!”
Sure, someone COULD possibly break this if the league were to shorten their season down the road. But to be honest, with the way players play in this day and age……it’s HIGHLY UNLIKELY that will ever happen.
But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
