Cleveland Browns Mock Draft 1.0
The 2025 NFL draft is less than a month away and college pro days are just about finished. It’s time to do a mock draft. I use the draft simulator at https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator. I won’t be doing any trades, however as the draft gets closer, I might change my mind in future mocks. I’m also keeping in mind the age guardrails used by the Browns front office and the Relative Activity Score (RAS) used by the league.
Round 1, Pick 2, Abdul Carter DE, Penn St.
Round 2, Pick 33, Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss
Round 3, Pick 67, Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa
Round 3, Pick 94, Emery Jones, OT, LSU
Round 4, Pick 104, Jalen Royals, WR, Utah St.
Round 6, Pick 179, Jalin Conyers, TE, Texas Tech
Round 6, Pick 192, Tommi Hill, CB, Nebraska
Round 6, Pick 200, Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
Round 6, Pick 216, Jacquez Hunter, RB, Auburn
Round 7, Pick 254, Nick Martin, LB, Oklahoma State
I’m of the belief the Titans are going to select QB Cam Ward with the first pick. Tennessee is asking for multiple first round picks in any trade scenario and that’s too steep to move up one pick. The best player in this draft is Abdul Carter, Some Brown’s fans complain Carter is too small (he’s bigger than Von Miller) or he’s an injury risk (he never missed a game in college). With the first pick in the second round, I was surprised to see Jaxson Dart, but also very happy. Cleveland has an interest in Dart and if he should make to the second day of the draft, the Browns would happily select him. Another surprise happened in the third round. Kaleb Johnson is one of the best wide zone running backs in this draft. With the second pick in the third, I went with a developmental offensive tackle, Emery Jones from LSU.
Day three is where I feel the Browns might add a pick in a trade. They have no fifth-round pick and there’s a large gap between pick 104 and pick 179. But not today. With my fourth round pick I went with a tight end. Conyers can step in and be TE3, with the possibility of moving up to TE2 by the end of the season. After five straight offensive players, it was time to address the defense. Browns GM Andrew Berry loves to draft cornerbacks and finding Tommi Hill this late would fit. I was also surprised to find Malachi Moore available with pick 200. The Browns need at least three safeties either in free agency or the draft. I’ve held fast on insisting the Browns will draft two running backs, one to start and one to compete with Jerome Ford. With the Browns second to last pick I chose Jacquez Hunter for that purpose. Finally, with the uncertain health of Jeremiah Owusu- Koramoah, I picked the linebacker out of Oklahoma State, Nick Martin.
