Cleveland Browns 53-Man Roster Prediction Post Preseason Game 2

After the preseason game against the defending Super Bowl Champions Eagles, the Browns 53-man roster is starting to become more defined. The trade of defensive tackle Jovon Briggs to the Jets, the signing of UDFA Wide receiver Isaiah Bond and the continuing injuries to quarterback Kenny Pickett, have helped settle certain positions. Barring injuries, here’s my 53-man roster prediction.

Quarterback (3). Joe Flacco (starter), Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders. I could see if Kenny Pickett is still injured, the team could place him on injured reserve.

Running Back (3). Jerome Ford, Dylan Sampson, Quinshon Judkins. The Judkins situation should rectify itself soon.

Tight End (3). David Njoku, Harold Fannin, Free agent. The number three tight end spot is still up in the air. This may be a spot for the Browns to add to the roster on cutdown day.

Wide Receiver (6). Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, Cedric Tillman, Jamari Thrash, DeAndre Carter, Diontae Johnson. Johnson is hanging on by a thread. Gage Larvadain and Kaden Davis are standing by.

Offensive Tackle (4). Jack Conklin, Cornelius Lucus, Dawand Jones, Free agent. Barton Jackson has a chance to make the roster with a strong game against the Rams. If not, addition by cutdown day.

Offensive Guard (4). Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, Teven Jenkins, Zac Zinter. Both Jenkins and Zinter improved against the Eagles, this group is pretty much set.

Center (2). Ethan Pocic, Luke Wypler. Set.

Defensive Tackle (4). Maliek Collins, Michael Hall, Mason Graham, Shelby Harris. With the trade of Jovon Briggs, Harris makes the roster. The only question mark is will Hall be ready week one, if not Sam Kamara makes the roster.

Defensive End (6). Myles Garrett, Isaiah McGuire, Alex Wright, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Adin Huntington, Cameron Thomas. This group looks good. Both Wright and Huntington can play inside. Thomas has been a pleasant surprise.

Linebacker (5). Carson Schwesinger, Mohamoud Diabate, Jerome Baker, Winston Reid, Devin Bush. Nathan Watson was placed on IR and if Bush is suspended that opens the door for Easton Mascarenas-Arnold.

Cornerback (5). Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, Tony Brown, Myles Hardin, Nik Needham. Cameron Mitchell has not played well in either preseason game. This might be another cutdown day situation or UDFA Dom Johnson could play himself on the roster.

Safety (5). Grant Delpit, Rayshawn Jenkins, Ronnie Hickman, Chris Edmonds, Donovan McMillon. I’m favoring McMillon over Damontae Kazee who could be in the mix with a strong showing in preseason game three. If that happens, McMillon will go to the practice squad.

Long Snapper (1). Rex Sunahara. After watching rookie Brent Matiscik against the Eagles, Sunahara is safe. Matiscik was waived this week.

Punter (1). Cory Bojorquez. Set.

Kicker (1). Dustin Hopkins. I’ve heard the Browns are watching this situation closely. The Browns won’t hesitate to cut ties with Hopkins if he struggles. If Hopkins is cut, backup kicker Andre Szmyt would be an option or signing a veteran kicker.
