The Big 3 Playing Together is Great for the Red Sox Moving Forward

Finally, the big news broke and for Red Sox Nation, it was the one thing that can bring them joy in what’s been a disappointing season. The Red Sox have brought up number one prospect Roman Anthony. It was not only long overdue, but something the entire baseball world knew needed to happen. This is great because it gives the Red Sox a dynamic offensive weapon, but it also allows them to truly build for the future.

The Big 3 Playing Together Has Meaning

This is more than just playing the games and trying to win baseball games. Yes, Anthony makes the Red Sox a better team and more of a dynamic offense. He can help with runners in scoring position, where the Red Sox have struck out the most and struggle with timely hitting. He can bring enormous power in his bat and give the Red Sox extra thump. He is by no means the savior to what feels like a lost year, but a core piece of what’s to come.

When you look at the Red Sox roster there is a bit of uncertainty. Is Trevor Story going to opt out? What about Alex Bregman? The veteran presences on the roster could be out the door by the end of the 2025 season. Which now points towards the youth.

This roster already has a youth movement going. Carlos Narvaez is one of the best rookies in the sport. Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu are sophomores. But all eyes are on the Big 3 and is a trio that owner John Henry has been parading around for over a year.

Ever since the guys were drafted, it set the canvas up for what’s to come and the picture began to be painted. The future was in place and now the future is present. Kristian Campbell has been with the team since Opening Day. While he has been in a rookie slump, he’s been a delight to watch and it’s been awesome seeing him compete. Now, all three are up together. Granted, you can argue that Mayer AND Anthony are up due to injuries to players in their positions, but this is just the right move overall.

These three players ascended through the minors together. They’ve been with one another from the jump. They are brothers. They are friends. Heck, Mayer and Anthony were living together. Even if this is a lost Red Sox season, at least these three can compete together and build together and help shape the core of this team. That’s the important part.

Cause at the end of the day, these are the three that are going to help spearhead the future of this Red Sox team. These are the players that will shape this core and even though they are still developing; it is great to see them further their craft at the MLB level.

It feels very Baltimore Orioles esque that “the future is now”. But it truly is the case for this team and it’s just great to see. This team needs a culture and an identity and now they can form one with the three players they’ve flashed around for years.

Great for us fans. We deserve it.
