Teddy Bridgewater Was Suspended For Caring About His Players

I’ve seen plenty of stupid things in this world, but this may IN FACT be the stupidest. Teddy Bridgewater; NFL quarterback and probably one of the nicest humans in the history of the league, has officially been suspended from the high school that he volunteers at (Miami Northwestern) for reportedly providing “impermissible benefits” to his players.

Bridgewater, a VOLUNTEER mind you, is being reprimanded for helping his players. The former Louisville Cardinal is not allowed to coach for his alma mater, because he was taking a legitimate interest in helping these kids succeed. He was GIVING BACK to his community, teaching the players good life lessons, making sure they made it to practice/ate, and to top it off…….HE HELPED LEAD THEM TO A STATE TITLE!

And do you know what these “benefits” ACTUALLY added up to? Well according to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Teddy reportedly covered;

– $14K for Training Camp
– $9,500 for team pride sets
– $2,200/week for pregame meals
– $1,300/week for recovery
– $700/week for Ubers
….and MORE!

He was taking a vested interest in this team, these kids, and the school that he came from……and he was shown the door. Oh….and don’t forget he was a VOLUNTEER! (I can’t stress that enough). He wasn’t getting paid for this gig. He wasn’t receiving a paycheck for his services, or anything like that. The former Detroit Lion just loves the game so much, to the point where he wanted to pass his knowledge down to the next generation of players.

This has to be the most insulting action that I’ve ever seen an entity take. Don’t we want good role models in our schools (especially this one) who can create an environment for kids to be successful? Shouldn’t we be encouraging humans who will gladly “pony up” TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to these schools/programs to be a part of the education system?

To me……that would make sense? Right? Surround the future of this great country with humans who can show them the way? But NO; the school, or the conference, or whoever decided to suspend this great man thought otherwise under the guise of “fairness?” That is absolutely WILD to me!

Teddy Bridgewater was the best thing that has happened to Miami Northwestern in quite some time, and now his presence has been turned into a negative. Hopefully some “higher up” gets their head on straight, and fixes this.

But in the end….what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
