“Swifties” Forced Nebraska To Delete This LEGENDARY Photo
Man do I love college football. The rivalries. The traditions. The creative smack-talk on Twitter by some of the most talented social media teams in the country. This time of year is so much fun for sports fans, to the point where you can’t help but get wrapped up in the action.
But this past Thursday, after a thrilling 20-17 win by the Nebraska Huskers over the Cincinnati Bearcats……let’s just say that “action” got a little too real for ‘Herbie Husker’s’ bunch…
Nebraska tweeted & deleted a picture of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, except they replaced Kelce with their mascot ðŸ˜ðŸ˜³ pic.twitter.com/jQx06PUyLR

This image was posted to Nebraska Football’s main twitter account just minutes after the game ended at Arrowhead. For those of you who’ve been living under a rock; it was a subtle little jab at the recent engagement of former Bearcat Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift. It was about as fun and comical as a tweet could get……but “Swifties” DID NOT enjoy it one bit.
According to multiple reports; the psycho-obsessive fans of Swift were VERY UPSET at the “distasteful nature” of Nebraska’s social media team. They were reportedly leaving scathing replies to the image, calling it “disgraceful” and “immature.” There were also rumors that they were in the school’s DMs, leaving awful messages that I could only assume were too graphic for public twitter.
That…..is where the tweet ended up getting deleted. Even though the ‘scarlet and cream’ were the victors that night, they ended up being the losers. They ended up cowering to Taylor Swift’s crazed fan base, and allowed them to get the upper-hand on what was supposed to be a very fun story.
My question? Why? Why did the school bend the knee to the psycho-obsessed minions who blindly follow this musician? There was nothing wrong with what Nebraska did. It was just a FUN JAB at their opposition. It was something that colleges have done for YEARS, ever since social media was created.
It was “fun.” Do we remember what “fun” is? Or are we all so consumed with our feelings, to the point where we’ve outlawed the term?
Hopefully the rest of the teams who play Cincinnati don’t follow suit. Stand up for yourselves! But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
