Steelers have several injured players working their way back on Saturday
The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice field at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Only two days removed from their final preseason game, the Steelers have already begun cuts as they get down to 53 players for Tuesday. But those who remained we’re on the field.
Now that the training camp is over, reports from practice are limited to just videos during individual time and information players share following practice. But sometimes this information can be quite helpful.
There are several players who missed some or all of the preseason with the Steelers who have been dealing with injury and have put their status with the roster in question. Here are some of the injury reports that came following practice on Saturday:

Derrick Harmon
By Mike Tomlin categorizing Derrick Harmon’s MCL sprain as “week-to-week,” it seems like Harmon can avoid IR and be available much sooner than the Week 5 bye.
First four games are at NJY, vs. SEA, at NE, vs. MIN (in Ireland).

Derrick Harmon just talked, he’s wearing a knee brace. Mike Tomlin characterized him as week to week.
Harmon feared the worst initially. Says he suffered the injury on the play before the Pierre interception.
Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt helped cheer him up on the sidelines.

Derrick Harmon said he was injured on his second-to-last play and tried to keep going: “It wasn’t that serious. I thought it was serious, but it wasn’t that serious. But still something I have to be in the training room and get rehab going.” pic.twitter.com/ZjtHkmwhJK

This is the play Derrick Harmon suffered his knee injury on. You can see that late in the play, he gets rolled up and goes down. pic.twitter.com/pst9El8iir

Cory Trice
FWIW, Cory Trice Jr. said he’s hoping to be back in time for Week 1.
— Mike DeFabo (@MikeDeFabo) August 23, 2025
Cory Trice said that he is 'ahead of schedule' on his hamstring injury, and the goal is to be ready for Week 1. He thinks he will get to 100% in time for that.

Christian Kuntz
Known tough guy and Steelers LS Christian Kuntz has every intention to play in the opener against the Jets and will.

While there are other members of the Steelers who have been dealing with injury, such as Will Howard, Ben Skowronek, and Calvin Anderson, these are the players where reports were given after practice. Stay tuned to SCN for all the updates as the Steelers prepare to trim their roster down to 53 players and prepare for the 2025 regular season.
