Today in White Sox Baseball (May 2, 2025) — Can’t stop, won’t stop winning

Another relatively easy win for the White Sox, marking their second two-game winning streak of the season. On the farm, just three games, and just one win.

Chicago White Sox 7, Houston Astros 3 Would you believe the Astros were never really in this game? Me neither, but it was sorta true. Jonathan Cannon (6 IP, 2 ER) pitched to contact (nine hits) but didn’t walk a soul; he is striding forward. As for the bats, well, rookies Chase Meidroth (leadoff) and Edgar Quero (cleanup) continue to propel the club. The White Sox are now 9-23 and pacing for fewer than 120 losses for the first time in weeks.

Norfolk Tides 11, Charlotte Knights 3 Maybe running a bullpen game once a rotation turn makes sense, given there are no viable Knights starters. Case in point, tonight neither Justin Dunn (six runs allowed in less than four innings) and Chris Rodriguez (three runs, three innings) could pitch their way out of a paper bag. Tim Elko homered, keeping pressure on Chris Getz, I guess. Charlotte saw its seven-game winning streak snapped, and fell back worse than .500, at 15-16.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Birmingham Barons PPD, rain, doubleheader Saturday

Greensboro Grasshoppers 11, Winston-Salem Dash 9 Boy, the Dash are bad, sorry W-S. Seth Keener (3 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) has gone from the sneaky-smart 2023 pick to starter completely lost on the mound. A passed ball and two-run RBI single fueled a comeback, so this club has some fight. But they’re still 9-16.

Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 9, Augusta GreenJackets 1 At least the sole win on the farm was a laffer. The big blow came with a homer from Lyle Miller-Green in the second, and the CBs never trailed. It was a de facto bullpen game on the pitching side, and maybe that should continue given tonight’s results. Kannapolis has won four straight and improves to 15-10.
