Today in White Sox Baseball (April 18, 2025) — Another series, another blowout loss

The White Sox, with memories of beating Boston in a series still fresh, traveled east and got blown out. On the farm, it was another one-win day.

Boston Red Sox 10, Chicago White Sox 3 Not the sole solid Sox starter, but so far the best, Martín Pérez, left early with an elbow injury as the Carmines feasted. Trevor Story continued as Boston’s Sox-killer, helping drop the South Siders to 4-15.

Charlotte Knights 2, Nashville Sounds 1 Might as well kick it off with to sole win of the day, as the Knights sidestepped a 10-game losing streak on the arm of MLB vet Justin Dunn, who threw six innings of three-hit, shutout ball. And hey, it was just two runs but Charlotte scored them in the most important spot, in a walk-off rally that went Bryan Ramos HBP-Bobby Dalbec 2B-Andre Lipcius GWRBI. Charlotte stands at 7-12.

Biloxi Shuckers 4, Birmingham Barons 1 Noah Schultz’s third start of the season was … inefficient, needing 82 pitches to get 11 outs, at a cost of five walks. Obviously the offense did not pick up their ace, mustering just six hits. The Barons dropped to 6-6.

Greenville Drive 3, Winston-Salem Dash 2 Shane Murphy started and acquitted himself well, as did a bullpen that allowed just one earned run over four innings. And the offense packed punch, with seven hits, just three of them singles. However, no contact at all in key spots (15 Ks) kilt W-S in this one, as it drops to 5-8.

Columbia Fireflies 8, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 7 While the Barons and Dash offenses were dead after batting practice, at least Kanny came to life — too late. The CBs trucked into their last bats down, 8-4, and proceeded to shave three runs off of the lead without a single RBI hit (sac fly, error, wild pitch). With two outs and the tying run on second, Calvin Harris looked at strike three to end it. The CBs shoot into Saturday with a 6-7 record.
