Rockies blanked 4-0 by excellent Giants pitching

The Colorado Rockies were shut out by the San Francisco Giants 4–0 on Friday night at Oracle Park, falling to 6–26 on the season. The Giants, now 20–13, snapped a three-game losing streak behind a dominant performance from starter Robbie Ray.

Ray (4–0) delivered seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight without allowing a runner past second base. Hayden Birdsong closed out the game with two hitless innings, completing San Francisco’s first shutout of the season.

The Giants scored three runs in the second inning, highlighted by LaMonte Wade Jr.’s RBI double and a wild pitch that allowed him to score. Matt Chapman added a solo home run in the third, his sixth of the season.

The Rockies were held hitless until Hunter Goodman had an infield single in the fourth inning with Jordan Beck and Nick Martini supplying the other twos hits. The Rockies struck out nine times and had two walks.

Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela (1–5) allowed four runs over five innings, raising his ERA to 5.50. However, the bullpen continued its streak of excellence with three spotless innings from Jimmy Herget, Tyler Kinley, and Juan Mejia.

The series continues Saturday with Bradley Blalock (0–1, 10.29 ERA) starting for Colorado against San Francisco’s Jordan Hicks (1–3, 6.12 ERA).
