Goodman’s two homers propel Rockies to 10th win of the season

The Colorado Rockies snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 6–4 victory over the Miami Marlins on Monday night at loanDepot Park. Hunter Goodman led the charge, hitting two home runs—including a decisive two-run shot in the fifth inning—to help the Rockies secure their 10th win of the season, improving their record to 10–50.

The Rockies took an early 1–0 lead in the first inning when Goodman singled and scored on Thairo Estrada’s RBI double. However, the Marlins responded in the bottom half, capitalizing on a fielding error by Goodman and adding runs with an RBI single from Otto Lopez and a sacrifice fly by Eric Wagaman to take a 3–1 lead. Jesús Sánchez extended Miami’s lead to 4–1 in the second inning with an RBI double.

Goodman began the Rockies’ comeback with a solo home run in the third inning, his eighth of the season. In the fifth, after Ezequiel Tovar singled, Goodman launched his second homer of the game—a two-run shot off Max Meyer—giving Colorado a 5–4 lead. This marked Goodman’s third career multi-homer game and his first on the road.

Germán Márquez started for Colorado, allowing four runs over five innings and striking out six. Despite the amount of traffic he faced, he managed to escape a few key situations that could have led to a Marlins lopsided score. The Rockies’ bullpen then held the Marlins scoreless for the remaining innings with Zach Agnos securing the save.

Tyler Freeman contributed with an RBI single in the fourth inning, narrowing the deficit to 4–3. In the ninth, Sam Hilliard provided an insurance run with an RBI double, scoring Keston Hiura, who had doubled earlier in the inning.

It was much needed win as the Rockies had become the first team in MLB history to start a season 9-50. They will look for their first series win on Tuesday as rookie starter Chase Dollander returns from the IL to take the mound.
