Bo Bichette, Blue Jays Bash Rockies in Blowout at Coors Field
The Colorado Rockies were battered, bruised, and overwhelmed on Monday night as the Toronto Blue Jays steamrolled their way to a 15–1 victory at Coors Field. It was a game that quickly turned lopsided and never swung back, with Bo Bichette and Daulton Varsho leading the charge in a complete dismantling of the Rockies.
For Colorado, it was yet another night in a spiraling season filled with frustration, misfires, and mounting losses. The defeat dropped the Rockies to 30–82, continuing their pace toward one of the worst records in franchise—and possibly league—history.
The game unraveled in the third inning when Toronto erupted for seven runs. The inning featured a parade of base runners with players like Daulton Varsho delivering a three-run homer while Joey Loperfideo and Davis Schneider coming through with RBI hits.
Colorado starter Tanner Gordon bore the brunt of the damage. He was chased after just 2 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits. It was his shortest start since joining the rotation July, and his ERA ballooned to 6.59. The Rockies’ bullpen didn’t offer much relief. Ryan Rolison and Carson Palmquist combined to allow seven more runs over the next four innings as the Blue Jays continued to pour it on.
If there was one face of the Blue Jays’ onslaught, it was Bo Bichette. The shortstop had a night to remember, finishing 3-for-6 with two home runs and six RBI. He homered in the third inning, a two-run shot, and added a three-run shot in the seventh inning. Daulton Varsho also made his presence felt. In addition to his third-inning homer, he added a run-scoring single in the fifth and made a highlight-reel diving catch in the outfield.
Offensively, the Rockies mustered just one run—a fifth-inning RBI single from Ezequiel Tovar. Tovar finished 2-for-3, one of the few Rockies with any offensive traction on the night.
