Amador’s three hits not enough to snag Rockies victory in loss to Reds

The Reds took an early lead in the second inning when Noelvi Marte launched a two-run homer to left-center, scoring Gavin Lux. The Rockies responded in the bottom half with a two-run shot by Michael Toglia, tying the game at 2–2. ​

In the fourth inning, Cincinnati regained the lead with a solo homer by Austin Hays. However, the Rockies answered back with Adael Amador in the fifth inning with his first career home run, a solo shot to right, leveling the score at 3–3. ​

Hays struck again in the sixth with another solo homer, putting the Reds ahead 4–3 and chasing Antonio Senzatela from the game. The Rockies’ bullpen locked things down until the ninth inning when Elly De La Cruz’s RBI single against Tyler Kinley and Spencer Steer’s infield hit extended Cincinnati’s lead to 6–3. The Rockies managed to score one in the bottom of the ninth on Amador’s RBI double to score Nick Martini, who had drawn the Rockies’ lone walk of the day, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

Hunter Greene earned the win for Cincinnati, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out eight and Emilio PagΓ‘n secured his seventh save of the season. The Rockies managed just one hit against the Reds’ bullpen over the final three innings and struck out 13 times in the game.

Antonio Senzatela took the loss for Colorado, surrendering four runs on eight hits over five innings with four strikeouts.

The Rockies will look to avoid a series sweep in the finale against the Reds on Sunday.
