Affected by Altitude Episode 154: Spring Training Vibes (feat. Patrick Lyons)
This episode was recorded on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Stats and events may not be current at time of posting.Β
Rocky Mountain Rooftop is the Colorado Rockies affiliate of Fans First Sports Network, dedicated to covering all things Rockies. Our flagship podcast, Affected by Altitude, hosted by Evan Lang and Skyler Timmins, covers all the happenings of the big league club. Other shows under the RMR banner include Every Rockie Ever and Rooftop Mingl,e featuring player interviews.
This week, Skyler and Evan are joined by Patrick Lyons of Rockies Insider and Just Baseball to discuss the vibes at Spring Training. Patrick had boots on the ground in Arizona to kick off camp and we’ve got plenty to ask him. Youth seems to be a palpable source of excitement in camp, but is that something fans should hang their hat on or at least develop some excitement for? There is also a lot of talk about the prospects of Chase Dollander actually cracking the Opening Day Roster; Lyons certainly believes there is a good chance he can. We also discuss roster moves (both potential and actual), such as the waiving of Justin Lawrence and what they could mean for the Rockies’ bullpen moving forward. We also hypothesize what non-roster invitees could snag a spot out of camp for the bench as well as who we should think about being worried about. Lastly, we wrap things up with expectations and projections for Kyle Farmer and Sam Hilliard, two veteran bench pieces that could still factor into a good amount of playing time in 2025.
