Rangers To Activate Eovaldi, Send Langford To IL

The Texas Rangers are expected to make a pair of roster moves prior to Friday night’s series opener against the Seattle Mariners.

RHP Nathan Eovaldi is expected to be activated from the IL and make the start tonight for Texas. He has not pitched in exactly a month since he went down with a triceps injury in his start against the Toronto Blue Jays.

To make room for Eovaldi on the active roster, the Rangers will option Dane Dunning to AAA Round Rock. On Monday, Dunning came out of the bullpen in Baltimore, giving up an earned run in two innings in just his second appearance of the season.

Before going on the IL, Eovaldi was off to a strong start, pitching to the tune of a 1.56 ERA in 69.1 IP this season.

In a separate move, the Rangers will be forced to place Wyatt Langford on the IL with an oblique injury. Taking Langford’s spot on the roster will be infielder Michael Helman, who Texas claimed from the Pirates earlier this season.

Hellman played nine games for the Twins last season, picking up three hits in ten at-bats in his only career major league action.
