Rangers Stars Shine In 6-2 Win Over Athletics

When Adolis Garcia, Marcus Semien, and Corey Seager all hit home runs in the same game, you feel pretty good about your chances to win if you’re the Rangers.

Combined that with six innings of one-run baseball from Jacob deGrom, and you feel really good about your chances to win if you’re Texas.

On Tuesday night at Globe Life Field, the Rangers got both of those things as their stars shined bright in a 6-2 win over the Athletics.

Trailing 1-0 in the 4th, Garcia blasted a 426-foot solo home run into the A’s bullpen to knot things up. For Garcia, it was his 4th home run in his last 9 games.

In the 6th, Semien gave the Rangers the lead by blasting a home run off the left field foul pole for his first hit since the All-Star break.

Seager would put the game away in the 7th as he belted a three-run homer to right, putting the game away as part of a two-hit night that would extend his on-base streak to 23, the longest by a Ranger this season.

“You saw tonight, huge impact. They’re [Garcia, Semien, Seager] hitting in the heart of the order; they’re our guys. When they’re swinging well, we’re gonna be playing well and scoring runs.

deGrom toed the mound for the Rangers and earned his 10th win of the season, going 6 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 9 Athletics.

His lone blemish came on the very first batter of the game as Lawrence Butler drove a leadoff home run over the right field wall. From that point forward, deGrom allowed just two hits and a walk.

“I’m happy with how I threw the ball,” deGrom said. “The one mistake there, I left a slider in the middle of the plate, and Butler was able to get it, but after that, the goal is to try and go out there and put up zeros and give the guys a chance to put up runs, and they did that so good win all-around tonight”.

With the win, the Rangers jumped to two games above .500 for the first time since May 18th, a mark that they know is a good sign but not a goal.

“It’s great to be there, but it’s not a number we think about,” Bochy said. “Sure, when you’ve been under .500 for a lot of the season, I guess you could say it’s great to be over it, but that’s not a goal or anything. They’re playing well right now. We’re doing what we need to do to win ballgames and get back to where we need to be”.
