Rangers Activate Jake Burger, Will Bat 7th, DH Against Phillies
The Texas Rangers will have an offensive reinforcement when they open a three-game set against the Phillies on Friday night at Globe Life Field.
Before the game, Texas activated 1st baseman Jake Burger from the 10-day IL, where he spent time with a left quad strain.
To make room for Burger, Alejandro Osuna was optioned back down to AAA Round Rock. With the move, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the active roster.
Burger is slashing .228/.259/.401 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI in 75 games this season.
Despite DH’ing tonight, Burger has put forth a strong performance in the field this season, moving to first base full-time, a position he had yet to play consistently at the Major League level.
As for Osuna, the opportunity to play every day with Round Rock will once again be a good opportunity for the young outfielder, who has just 34 MLB games under his belt.
Osuna has slashed .158/.290/.211 with 12 hits, one home run, and 5 RBI in 93 plate appearances with the Rangers this season.
