Rangers Activate Corey Seager, Option Jonathan Ornelas

After slumping immensely for the better part of the last two weeks, the Rangers offense will get a much-needed boost on Saturday night.

Corey Seager was officially activated from the 10-day IL. After leaving April 22nd’s game against the A’s with a right hamstring strain, Seager spent the minimum amount of time on the IL.

Seager was starting to heat up when he went down with the injury. Through 21 games this season, Seager has slashed .286/.345/.486/.813 with four home runs, two doubles, six RBI, and seven walks.

Just like he was briefly before heading to the IL, Seager will bat 3rd in tonight’s lineup but will just DH.

To make room for Seager on the active roster, Jonathan Ornelas will head back down to AAA Round Rock after being recalled yesterday.

Ornelas needed to be in Arlington to provide infield depth after Nick Ahmed was designated for assignment to make room for Blaine Crim on the 40-man roster.

In addition to the direct moves, Dane Dunning has also cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to AAA Round Rock.

Dunning pitched just one appearance on Wednesday, earning the save by going three innings, allowing two earned runs.
