Raiders Ink Long Term Lineman Kolton Miller to Extension
The Las Vegas Raiders continue to stay in the headlines. But this time it’s for something positive. The Raiders and offensive lineman Kolton Miller come to an agreement on a contract extension. The deal is for three years and worth $66 million. Also, he will receive $42.5 million in guaranteed money and have an annual average value of $22 million. He entered the final year of his deal and no more guaranteed money left, so this is a sigh of relief for him and also the Raiders.
Miller Staying Put
It’s great for the Raiders that Miller is staying put. He has been nothing but steady as the left tackle for the Raiders and is someone who has improved their career over time. He struggled as a rookie but Tom Cable worked with him and since he has been the anchor to the Raiders offensive line. With a line filled mainly with younger players, having his veteran presence and stability is enormous for the Raiders.
He is the longest tenured Raiders, which is crazy to think about and just how fast time has gone by. He started 17 games for the club last season and the 29 year old is pegged to protect the blind side of new quarterback Geno Smith. Not to mention, help create space for new running back Ashton Jeanty to run.
Miller is one of the best lineman in the game and it’s great to see his commitment to this team and wanting to still be a Raider. Last season, Miller finished 14th among all offensive tackles last season (per PFF).
Losing Miller would’ve been a tough pill to swallow. Questions have always regarded right tackle, so it’s nice to see that left tackle is a problem already solved. It’s been a great overall offseason for the Silver and Black and this just further puts the cherry on top in that regard.
Is it Week One yet?
