Power Ranking the QB Options for the Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns entered the 2025 NFL Draft with the No. 2 overall pick and a major need under center.

The Browns opted to trade back in the first round and acquired a pick for next year. Cleveland then selected Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham with the fifth-overall pick in the draft.

On days two and three, the Browns went to work at the quarterback position selecting two new options to compete in the fall. Check out how we would rank the starting quarterback options heading into the 2025-26 season.

4. Joe Flacco

The story of Joe Flacco and the Browns was fun to watch two years ago but it came to a fiery end in the postseason. Now, Flacco is back in Cleveland and will be relied on as a backup. He is a reliable veteran backup but should not start unless there are countless injuries and more bad luck in the quarterback room.

3. Dillon Gabriel

Dillon Gabriel was one of the top collegiate quarterbacks over the last four years. He ended his career running a high-powered offense at Oregon. Due to his experience in college, Gabriel was an intriguing prospect but it was a bit of a surprise to see the Browns select him where they did. The Browns came into the draft with veterans on the roster and selections that could go to this position. Gabriel is interesting but still seems like a reach here.

2. Kenny Pickett

The Browns traded for Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles. Up until the draft, he was the clear-cut starter. Now that the draft is complete, Pickett is still in the mix and will likely compete for a spot. Pickett is not the long-term answer under center for the Browns. The only aspect that makes sense is that this would be his second shot as a starter after failing in Pittsburgh. If the Browns do not believe in the rookies, Pickett will be the starter.

1. Shedeur Sanders

We all know what happened during the draft. Shedeur Sanders went from one of the top prospects to a fifth-round pick. It was a message sent to the Sanders as a whole. Now that he is in Cleveland, it is time to do the right thing. At No. 144, Sanders could end up being an extremely valuable pick down the line. There is no doubt that Sanders has the most raw talent on the roster right now. Will his game translate to the NFL? That is yet to be seen and many will have their opinions. Nonetheless, Sanders is the best option to start right away.
