Power Ranking QB Options for the New York Giants
The New York Giants are one of few teams that needed a quarterback heading into the 2025-26 season.
The Giants held the third-overall pick in the draft and wisely passed on a quarterback. New York picked Penn State edge Abdul Carter and was able to trade back into the first round to select Jaxson Dart.
This move in the draft came after signing both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency.
The Giants will enter the season with one of the more intriguing quarterback rooms in the league. Below, check out how we would power rank the options under center for New York.
4. Tommy DeVito
The gimmick was fun, especially for those living in New Jersey, but DeVito never had a chance as the future quarterback of the team. He won three games, which ultimately cost the Giants a chance at Jayden Daniels, and was unimpressive during his tenure. The run is officially over.
3. Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston was signed first in free agency and many questioned whether he would be the starter. When looking at his contract, it was clear that he was brought in to be a backup. Winston will take on similar roles to year’s past. If the starter gets hurt, Winston will take over. He is a seasoned, well-traveled quarterback that will not let New York get to him. In fact, he will build an even bigger persona there. On the field, the best-case scenario is not for Winston to start many games.
2. Jaxson Dart
We are making this list in the short term. It is likely that newly-drafted Jaxson Dart will be third on the depth chart. If the starter goes down, Winston will likely step in. Dart is not a finished product and the Giants want to make sure that they do right by him long term. With that being said, there is no doubt that Dart would be the most exciting player to watch this season. Again, that does not mean he will be successful long term. It would behoove the player and team to sit the young quarterback and let him learn behind veterans.
1. Russell Wilson
Once Russell Wilson was signed, it was clear that he would be the No. 1 regardless of the draft. Wilson was linked to the Giants from the start and the two sides were able to get a one-year deal done. Does this move mean the Giants will be back to the postseason? No. Wilson has been a shell of his old self in recent years. What Wilson does bring is a professional approach and veteran mindset to the quarterback room. This is exactly what a team in need of a bridge needed to do.
