Plenty of Fish Score as Miami Marlins Swamp Cleveland Guardians
Gavin Williams pitched the opposite of a no-hitter last night against the Miami Marlins.
One week after almost pitching a no-hitter, Williams gave up four runs in three innings as the Marlins pounded the Cleveland Guardians 13-4 at Progressive Field.
Xavier Edwards led off the game with a home run off Williams. Later in the inning, Jakob Marsee added a three-run homer.
Cleveland bounced right back in the bottom of the first when Steven Kwan hit a leadoff home run of his own.
The Guardians tied the game at 4-4 in the fourth inning when Gabriel Arias smashed a three-run homer to score Kyle Manzardo and CJ Kayfus.
BOMBING THE BULLPEN
That was all for the Cleveland offense, as the Marlins scored nine unanswered runs against the Guardians bullpen.
Kolby Allard got a loss for his 28th birthday, as Marsee hit a two-run homer off him to give the Marlins a 6-4 lead.
Matt Festa fared even worse, giving up five runs in the sixth inning. Graham Pauley hit a solo homer. Marsee added a two-run double, so he finished the game with seven RBI.
Cleveland’s newest reliever, Carlos Hernandez, gave up a two-run single to Agustin Ramirez in the seventh inning.
The only Guardians reliever who didn’t give up a run was catcher Austin Hedges, who pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

The rubber match of the three-game series will start tonight at 6:40.
Tanner Bibee (8-9, 4.60 ERA) will take the mound for Cleveland against the Marlins’ Edward Cabrera (6-5, 3.08).
