Which Browns QB will play against Aaron Rodgers in 2025?

On Thursday June 5th, 2025, ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted on X that Aaron Rodgers informed the Pittsburgh Steelers that he intended to sign a one-year contract with them. The Steelers currently have quarterbacks Mason Rudolph, sixth round pick rookie Will Howard, and Skylar Thompson on their roster. The decision by the 41-year-old Rodgers has been anticipated throughout the 2025 offseason. He is considered to be a short-term answer for the Steelers at quarterback. Rodgers will not only have to play against Myles Garrett and the Browns defense twice this season. A question to be asked is which Cleveland Browns quarterback will he face when theses division rivals clash?

The Cleveland Browns will go into their 2025 training camp with quarterbacks Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, third round pick rookie Dillon Gabriel, and fifth round pick rookie Shedeur Sanders and they will be competing for roster spots and a starting job. Both the Browns and Steelers have question marks at the quarterback position. As of today, it seems that Joe Flacco will start the 2025 season. But the Browns and Steelers don’t play each other until October of the 2025 season.

Interestingly enough Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers face the New Jets week 1 at Met Life Stadium. On week 6 of the 2025 season the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium on October 12th at 1pm eastern time. At that point and time in the season for the Browns it is most likely that Joe Flacco will be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback. Although Kenny Pickett going back to Pittsburgh would be interesting to see. The storyline of two quarterbacks over 40 years old could be fun to watch as well. The next time these teams play each other is week 17 in Cleveland.

On Sunday December 28th ,2025, at 1 pm eastern time the Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers at Huntington Bank Field. That game being so late in the season I would expect one of the rookie quarterbacks to start. I along with other Browns beat reporters feel that both Dillion Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will both have opportunities to start NFL games this season. Predicting team circumstances and starting quarterbacks six months into the future is difficult. But it can be fun to speculate. And now that Rodgers is in Pittsburgh, the 2025 season got more interesting for the AFC North. Or that might be me just speculating.
