Nashville Could Be Latest Destination for MLB Expansion

There is no denying that there will be expansion for MLB. With the league already set to 30 teams, the expectation is to see two more teams enter the league via expansion. There seems to be much popularity with certain places and fans all over would love to see Montreal get their team back. Another city that has put together a substantial effort is Nashville, Tennessee.

Nashville Making Their Case for Expansion

Nashville is one of the more popular cities that would be desirable for expansion. They already have two sports teams at the major league level with the Nashville Predators (NHL) and the Tennessee Titans (NFL). Adding baseball would be phenomenal, especially in the southern markets. Baseball already has a presence in the southern markets, such as the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, and the Tampa Bay Rays. Yeah Nashville is a bit more west than south, but itā€™s a nice hot spot for sports. Factor in Texas, and they have two baseball teams that are extremely relevant. Nashville has put together a case for an expansion.

A group that is called ā€œMusic City Baseballā€ is putting together their case to bring a baseball team to the city of Nashville. Heck, they even have a logo put together, which looks super fresh and clean. The Nashville Stars has the opportunity to adopt a name from the Negro Leagues and have it adopted by Major League Baseball.

It is more than the Tennessee Volunteers, who captured the championship in Omaha last season. Tennessee was the host of several teams that played back in the Negro Leagues, where they played games playing at Sulphur Dell as well as Greenwood Park and Tom Wilson Park. One of the teams was the Nashville Elite Giants, who played 15 years in the city. Not only does this city have baseball history, it would be awesome.

Baseball in Nashville Would Be Awesome

Baseball in the city of Nashville would be awesome. Between the rich history and a market thatā€™s starving for a team, this would be great for the sport. Imagine sitting outside drinking a cold beer and watching baseball on a summer night in the Music City? Ahhh, sounds like a great way to spend your time. Manfred has said he would love to expand before his contract as commissioner ends and landing in Nashville would be absolutely perfect.
