Michael S. Kim Was Just One Of The Dudes At The US Open
“Guys being dudes.” When you’re a member of the male species, this is the feeling that you strive for on a weekly basis. It doesn’t matter if you’re having beers at your local watering hole, “sketching” on the back of a cart during a round of golf, or just trying to name off random athletes for hours on end; when you’re a “guy being a dude,” you are at peace.
I say this because after I saw this tweet by Michael S. Kim about having a beer after his first two rounds at the US Open, the only thing I could think of was; “Man! Even professional golfers are just like us.”
I told myself I was going to have a beer after 36 regardless of the outcome 😂… hope +6 is good enough! pic.twitter.com/s1zOdGW9em

Kim, for those of you who are unaware, is currently ranked 26th in the FedEx Cup standings for the PGA. He has spent nine years on tour, where he has posted one win (2018 John Deere Classic) throughout the 243 events he’s participated in. He had a rough start to his weekend though, as he dug himself into a deep hole with his +6 through 36. But he was still able to make the cut after the rest of the field failed to really pull ahead.
But did that stop Michael Kim from enjoying a nice cold beer after his second round? Absolutely NOT! He made good on his own promise, and sipped on this glorious elixir from the Gods after a long day on the links. He enjoyed a refreshing brewski in the clubhouse, after a long day of swinging golf clubs around the greens.
It is the perfect example of a “guy being a dude,” and proof that athletes are just like us. It doesn’t matter how much money they make, or how many people know their name; in the end, they still enjoy the simple things. Just like the rest of us!
Thank you Michael Kim for reminding us all about that, and for being one of the dudes. But in the end, as always……what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
