Mercedes Mone, “Hangman” Adam Page Win Owen Hart Cup at AEW Double or Nothing
“Hangman” Adam Page and Mercedes Mone earned World title shots by winning the Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournaments at AEW Double or Nothing last night in Glendale, Ariz.
Mone opened the show with a victory over Jamie Hayter to win the women’s cup.
Mercedes, who holds the TBS title, will challenge “Timeless” Toni Storm” for the AEW women’s title at All In Texas on July 12.
Storm retained her championship with a victory over Mina Shirakawa.
Page outlasted Will Ospreay to win the men’s cup and a title shot at Jon Moxley at All In Texas.
LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR
Moxley led The Death Riders and The Young Bucks into Anarchy in the Arena against Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega, Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Willow Nightingale.
This bout featured several musical choices, including “I’m So Excited” by The Pointer Sisters, and the crowd-pleasing “Bodies” by Drowning Pool.
Both sides used staple guns and thumbtacks. After 35 minutes of insanity, Swerve pinned Nicholas Jackson after a thumbtack-assisted Swerve Stomp.
MANY VILLAINS WIN
FTR defeated Daniel Garcia & Nigel McGuinness when Cash Wheeler locked on the Sharpshooter and Garcia passed out.
Ricochet defeated Mark Briscoe in a brutal stretcher match after repeated stabbing Briscoe in the head with his golden scissors.
The Hurt Syndicate retained the AEW tag team title by defeating Ring Of Honor tag team champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara.
Kazuchika Okada defeated Speedball Mike Bailey to retain the Continental title with the Rainmaker lariat.
Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander & Konosuke Takeshita of the Don Callis Family beat the Paragon trio of Adam Cole, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly. Fletcher pinned O’Reilly after a brainbuster.
PRE-SHOW MATCHES
Harley Cameron & Anna Jay won the first match on the Buy-In pre-show, defeating Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford.
Bandido teamed with Komander, Hologram & AR Fox to win a high-flying battle with Roppongi Vice (Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero) and CRU (Action Andretti & Lio Rush)
