LSU Baseball Dominates West Virginia Advances To MCWS

The LSU Tigers are officially heading back to the Men’s College World Series for the first time since claiming the title in 2023.

Over the weekend, the Tigers swept West Virginia in the Baton Rouge Super Regional to punch their 20th ever ticket to Omaha.

In the blistering Saturday afternoon Louisiana heat, Tigers ace Kade Anderson didn’t have one of his better games, giving up seven runs in as many innings.

However, thanks to the LSU bats, that didn’t exactly matter. The Tigers slugged for 16 runs on just eight hits in a 16-9 Game One victory.

Eight of the 16 LSU runs came thanks to grand slams as Steven Milam and Josh Pearson gave the Tigers two grand slams in one game for the first time since May 22, 2024, in the SEC Tournament against Kentucky.

On Sunday, LSU had a chance to close out the series behind their other superstar pitcher as Anthony Eyanson took the mound.

Much like Anderson, Eyanson didn’t have his best outing as he went just five innings, allowing four runs.

Although like Anderson’s outing, the bats made sure it was enough as they put up 12 runs in a 12-5 Super Regional clinching victory.

LSU got things started early as they scored a run in the first and followed it up with a five-spot in the second.

West Virginia would cut the Tigers 6-0 lead into a 6-4 lead, but LSU put the game away in the 7th with a six-run inning.

Chris Stanfield bounced a two-RBI single through a vacant right side of the WVU infield for the first two runs of the inning. A few batters later, Steven Milam continued his hot weekend with an RBI double.

Jake Brown put the dagger in the game when he smoked a two-run home run to straight away center field to cap off the inning and the win.

After clinching their 20th trip to the MCWS, the Tigers will start their search for their 8th National Championship.

LSU will open the tournament against SEC rival Arkansas at a date and time that will be announced by the NCAA on Monday.
