Looking For Any Spark, Rangers Activate Corey Seager

Oftentimes in baseball, the question of how much one singular player can impact a team is asked.

We’ve seen it thrown around many times over the years with the Los Angeles Angels, who have made the postseason just once since Mike Trout made it to the big leagues and failed to play into October through the entire duration of the Shohei Ohtani era.

However, in 2025, the Rangers have their own version of the question with their superstar shortstop.

This season, on days when Corey Seager is in the lineup, the Rangers have a 15-11 record; on days without him, they are just 12-18.

Offensively, when Seager is in the lineup, the Rangers are slashing .241/.303/.399 with a 702 OPS, 31 home runs, and 97 RBI.

Without Seager, those numbers drop to .205/.267/.324 with a .591 OPS, 26 home runs, and 83 RBI.

Fortunately for the Rangers, Seager will be in the lineup tonight as Texas activated their three-year all-star from the 10-day IL (right hamstring strain).

To make room on the active roster, Blaine Crim has been optioned back to AAA Round Rock after being recalled before Monday’s game. He did not appear in either game he was recalled for.

As for Seager, he will DH tonight and bat second, marking just the third time he has been the designated hitter this season.

In 26 games this season, Seager is slashing .300/.346/.520 with a .886 OPS, 6 home runs, and 12 RBI.

Seager’s return no doubt helps add a little bit of length and protection to a struggling Rangers lineup that looks to go on a run and overcome their slow start.
