Logan Allen Leads Cleveland Guardians to Another Shutout of Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers aren’t enjoying their visit to Cleveland one bit.
Left-hander Logan Allen and three relievers pitched a three-hit shutout as the Guardians won 2-0 last night.
Cleveland also won Monday’s series opener 5-0.
Allen (2-2) gave up only three hits in six innings while striking out six.
Michael Festa, Hunter Gaddis, and Emmanuel Clase were perfect in their relief innings.
Clase, who has righted the ship at least temporarily, earned his ninth save and lowered his ERA to 4.91.
JUST ENOUGH OFFENSE
Jose Ramirez hit his seventh homer in the first inning off Quinn Priester (1-2). It was a solo shot that just cleared the right-field wall.
Kyle Manzardo drove in the Guardians’ other run with a triple to score Ramirez in the eighth inning. Center fielder Jackson Chourio gambled on a diving catch, but he came up empty.
WELCOME BACK
Will Brennan returned to Cleveland’s lineup and played right field on Monday and Tuesday. He was ready to start the season in Cleveland but was dropped to the minors after Cleveland acquired Nolan Jones.
Brayan Rocchio has been sent to Columbus. The former starting shortstop has struggled at the plate and in the field.
Daniel Schneemann has seized the second-base job, with Arias holding down the shortstop position.
Looking ahead, center fielder Lane Thomas is preparing to return from his wrist injury.
BROOMS FOR THE BREW CREW?
Cleveland will go for the sweep this afternoon, with Gavin Williams (3-2) starting against Milwaukee’s Logan Henderson (1-0).
First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m.
