John Cena Can’t Escape SummerSlam Street Fight with Cody Rhodes
When John Cena retires at the end of the year, he can devote all of his time to making movies.
Cena tried to jump-start that plan last night on Smackdown during the contract signing for his SummerSlam main event against Cody Rhodes.
The WWE champion attempted to drop out of the match to film a movie for Netflix instead.
Rhodes, who had already signed the contract, attacked the champion and put him through a table. Rhodes then used Cena’s own hand to sign the document.
Cody also revealed that the title match at SummerSlam would be a street fight.
WHO’S YOUR BUDDY?
While they insist they are not friends, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss are becoming a popular tag team.
Charlotte defeated Raquel Rodriguez with help from Bliss. At SummerSlam, the non-friends will challenge Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez for the WWE women’s tag team title.
Stephanie Vaquer pinned Alba Fyre after an “SVB” slam.
I WAS FRAMED, OFFICER
Smackdown opened with Solo Sikoa and his “My Family Tree” faction claiming that Jacob Fatu had attacked them in a hit-and-run car crash.
When Fatu arrived halfway through the show, the police realized Sikoa was lying and arrested him for filing a false report.
Sikoa also learned that he would defend his US title against Fatu in a steel cage at SummerSlam.
Damien Priest defeated Carmelo Hayes by disqualification when Aleister Black attacked Priest.
TAG TEAMS COLLIDE
Four Smackdown teams battled for a shot at The Wyatt Sicks’ WWE tag team title.
Rey Fenix & Andrade outlasted #DIY, Fraxiom, and Motor City Machine Guns in a wild, high-flying match to earn a title match on next week’s Smackdown in Cleveland.
In case you missed it earlier this week, Jelly Roll chokeslammed Logan Paul through a table on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
