It’s Ladies Night on WWE Smackdown
Tiffany Stratton’s victory over Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41 placed her firmly on top of the mountain, and now she has a lot of contenders to deal with, including Charlotte.
Last night on Smackdown, Nia Jax battled Jade Cargill for the No. 1 contender spot.
Charlotte came out first to talk about regaining the title, but Cargill told her to go to the back of the line.
Naomi interfered in the match, as she is still salty about her WrestleMania loss to Cargill. That allowed Nia Jax to beat Cargill with the Annihilator.
Chelsea Green challenged Zelina Vega to find a partner for a tag team match. Vega chose Alexa Bliss, and they defeated Green & Piper Niven.
CENA vs. ORTON
John Cena had some final words for Randy Orton for tonight’s battle for the WWE title at Backlash.
Cena said he embodies hustle, loyalty, and respect, while Orton is lazy and failed to live up to his potential. Orton showed up and gave the champ an RKO.
MORE TITLE CONTENDERS
Damien Priest & LA Knight defeated Jacob Fatu & Solo Sikoa in the opener. Knight pinned Solo after the BFT.
After the match, Priest and Knight brawled with each other and Fatu. Drew McIntyre came in and hit the Claymore Kick on Fatu. Those four will battle tonight for Fatu’s US title.
Nathan Frazier & Axiom won a non-title match against WWE tag team champions The Street Profits, who were still banged up after their recent Tables, Ladders & Chairs match.
OTHER ACTION
Andrade teamed with Rey Fenix to defeat Los Garza (Angel & Berto). Santos Escobar yelled at Los Garza for losing the match.
Aleister Black defeated Carmelo Hayes and wiped out The Miz with a Black Mass kick. If Black is ever going to become a big deal in WWE, now is the time.
