Don’t You Forget About Me: Sammy Guevara Wins Big-Money Match on AEW Collision

Sammy Guevara was one of the “Four Pillars” of AEW when the company started in 2019. The others were MJF, Jungle Boy, and Darby Allin.

Lately, Guevara has been nearly forgotten in AEW, although he does hold the Ring Of Honor tag team title with Dustin Rhodes.

He returned to AEW last night in Atlantic City, N.J., in a match with appropriately high stakes.

Guevara won a $100,000 High-Speed Collision match, defeating Kevin Knight, AR Fox, and Rush. He pinned Fox after hitting the GTH (Go To Hospital).

Brody King battled Josh Alexander to a 20-minute draw. King attacked Alexander and Lance Archer after the match, but he lost that fight.

The Gates of Agony squashed Ray Jaz & Goldy, and then they got into a parking lot brawl with Brian Keith & Big Bill.

DON’T MESS WITH DANNY

Max Caster issued another “Best Wrestler Alive” challenge, and of course, he lost again. Danny Garcia pinned Caster after a piledriver.

Garcia said he would be back after FTR’s best-of-three-falls main event with the Paragon duo of Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong.

Paragon won the first fall with an ankle lock by O’Reilly. However, FTR captured the next two falls with their Shatter Machine finisher.

After the match, Garcia challenged either Dax Harwood or Cash Wheeler to a singles bout on next week’s show.

WOMEN’S ACTION

In the opening bout, AEW women’s champion “Timeless” Toni Storm defeated Lady Frost with the TCM Chickenwing submission.

Megan Bayne continued to dominate all of the AEW women except Storm. Bayne defeated Harley Cameron after the Fate’s Descent (F5 slam).

BACK ON THE MOTHERSHIP

Collision usually airs on TNT, but it switched to TBS due to the NBA playoffs. So we had Saturday night wrestling on TBS, just like in the days of World Championship Wrestling.

Next week, Collision will air on TBS again. This time, the show will be on Thursday night due to the NHL playoffs.
