Derrick Henry Signs A MASSIVE Extension With The Ravens

“You come at the King, you best not miss.” This quote has been synonymous with the city of Baltimore for a number of years now, ever since it was uttered in the critically-acclaimed show “The Wire.” And now, it looks like their “King” will remain in his Kingdom for the next few years, after Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry signed a two-year extension with the team.

Henry, for those of you who are unaware, has been one of the best (if not THE BEST) running backs in the league for quite some time. During his lone-season in Baltimore, the former member of the Alabama Crimson Tide put up an ASTOUNDING stat-line consisting of 325 CAR, 1,921 Yds, and 16 TDs.

He will officially become the highest-paid running back over the age of 30, even though it’s a position that has the shortest career on average in all of football. He will be entering his 10th year in the league next season (2nd with the Ravens), and will likely continue to be a gigantic piece of John Harbaugh’s run-heavy attack.

The former Tennessee Titan, who is built like a Mack-Truck with a Ferrari engine, has been a model of health and consistency throughout the past decade. With only one season on his resumΓ© where he played less than 15 games; Henry has basically proven that he is a God amongst mortals. He has been able to stand the test of time, and SHATTER what has become a standard “time table” for RBs in the NFL.

Simply put; sure, paying a running back $30+ million after the age of 30 seems like a wild move. But Derrick Henry has been a wild back ever since he came into this league. Whether it’s the huge 70+ yard runs that make you ask “how can a LARGE MAN like that run so fast;”

Or the VICIOUS stiff-arms that remind you just how MONSTROUS he really is…

This man has withstood the test of time, and has become an “outlier” on the running back spectrum. It’s a well-deserved pay day for the “big man,” and I can’t wait to see what he pulls off this upcoming season.

But in the end, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
