Cody Rhodes Returns to Battle John Cena on Saturday Night’s Main Event

Cody Rhodes had been absent since losing the WWE title to John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41.

Rhodes stormed back to the ring last night to counter Cena’s interference in the Jey Uso-Logan Paul main event.

Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes on the WWE champion, allowing Uso to hit the top-rope splash on Paul to retain the World title.

After the match, Rhodes challenged Cena and Paul to a tag team match at Money in the Bank on June 7 in Atlanta.

Earlier in the night, Cena beat R-Truth in a non-title match. Truth came out to Cena’s music and used Cena’s wrestling moves.

EVEN MORE DANGEROUS

Paul Heyman’s new alliance added Australian monster Bronson Reed, who attacked CM Punk.

Punk & Sami Zayn were facing Seth Rollins & Bron Breakker. After Reed’s attack, Breakker hit the spear on Zayn for the pin.

Zelina Vega retained the women’s US title with a victory over former champion Chelsea Green.

CHECK THE RULEBOOK

Damien Priest defeated Drew McIntyre in a steel cage match after blasting him with a Con-Chair-to (double chair slam) and walking out the door.

Announcer Jesse “The Body” Ventura was incredulous that Priest was allowed to exit through the door instead of climbing over the top of the cage.

The rule hasn’t changed since Ventura announced in the 1980s. Did he expect King Kong Bundy to climb the cage at WrestleMania 2?

LOADED WEEKEND

WWE announced a comically large amount of shows for the second weekend in July, when AEW will present its biggest event of the year (All In Texas).

The next Saturday Night’s Main Event is set for July 12, while the all-women Evolution 2 event will take place on July 13.

WWE will also present NXT Great American Bash sometime that weekend, perhaps head-to-head with All In Texas.
