Chris Paul Links Deal To Return To Clippers For Potential Final Season
Chris Paul is heading back to the place that most NBA fans know him from.
According to reports, Paul has agreed to a one-year $3.6 million deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers for what could be his final season in the NBA.
Paul has said that he wants to play “at least one more year” in the NBA before retiring to spend more time with his family.
Being closer to home was a huge reason that Paul wanted to play on the West Coast, ultimately landing back in LA.
Paul spent six strong years with the Clippers from 2012-2017, averaging 18.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 2.2 steals as the orchestrator of the famous “lob city” Clippers teams.
In the summer of 2017, Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he teamed up with former and now current all-star teammate James Harden.
This go-around will be much less of a high-stakes partnership between Paul and Harden as they will be part of a backcourt that now also features Bradley Beal.
After finishing with a strong 50-32 record last season, the Clippers’ additions of Paul, Beal, and forward John Collins, as well as a hopeful impending full season of Kawhi Leonard, have them in a strong position to improve upon their seven-game first-round exit last season.
