Ballpark Bets: Winners, Dingers, and Tallying the Bases
Cubs ML (-149)
This one is a safe pick for me. The Cubs are opening with Ryan Brasier to begin the game. I like Noah Cameron, but I also like the Cubs offense much better. They came out flying after the break, which is nice to see. The Royals offense has been middle of the pack during the break and even if it is a bullpen game, I like the bullpen for the Cubs as well.
Zack Wheeler 8+ Strikeouts (-165)
I am also taking the under (8.5), but I still see Wheeler hitting at the very least 8 in this outing. The Red Sox struck out at least five times against each starter for the Cubs this weekend. Now they are facing one of the best pitchers in baseball. And yes the Red Sox have been able to tee off on some of the better pitchers in this league, but Wheeler is dominant.
Wheeler sits in the 94th percentile for strikeout rate and is among the leaders in strikeouts. The Red Sox have been on the brutal end of strikeouts this season, so I don’t think that stops tonight.
Kyle Schwarber 2+ Total Bases (+115)
Facing Walker Buehler. Say no more. It wouldn’t shock me if Schwarber went deep in the first inning of this game but I can easily see a hard contact hit resulting in 2+ bases. Buehler has largely struggled since returning from his injury.
Dinger of the Day!
Bryce Harper (+330)
Yeah, lots of Phillies stuff. But Harper is going for number 350 and I will aim to place that pick until he reaches the mark. He’s going to eventually.
Corbin Carroll (+425)
I want to pick Eugenio Suarez for the most obvious reasons alive. He hit four this past weekend. However, Carroll hit three triples this weekend and was sensational at the plate. It’s his turn to go yard in this one.
