Ballpark Bets: Striking Them Out!
Carlos Rodon 6+ (-205)
Despite the loss yesterday, Will Warren did manage to strikeout at least five and he did not have his best stuff. For Carlos Rodon, this seems very likely, especially the way he has been pitching lately.
Just in the month of April, he has had under six strikeouts just once in five starts. In fact, Rodon has had eight or more strikeouts in his last four starts.
Even if the earned runs pile up, the strikeouts are there. I’m banking on it.
Crochet 6+ (-165)
Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet is coming off one of his worst starts of the year. His command was off and locating the pitches was tough. He grinded through it and did what an ace can do. Given his competitive attitude, I would bet he comes out firing on all cylinders against the Blue Jays this evening.
Crochet has 44 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched. Also, he ranks in the 84th percentile for strikeout rate. When he’s on, he’s on and should be a lock to get at least six.
Zack Wheeler 7+ Strikeouts (-115)
It’s very tough to bet against Wheeler, who seemingly pitches like a CY Young candidate every single season.
Wheeler has had one outing this month where he has had less than seven strikeouts. The Nationals have been good and they’ve seen their bats take off. But Wheeler and even Mackenzie Gore will make for a great pitching matchup. But lock in seven for Wheeler.
