Ballpark Bets: Strikeouts, Moneylines, and Dinger of the Day

Astros ML -125

This one I’m going to keep simple. The Pirates are not good offensively. Once again they blew a great Paul Skenes start. The Astros are good enough to weather what they face and sneak out with a W.

Chris Sale Under 6.5 Strikeouts (+100)

This one is bold. Chris Sale has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season and the lefty is dialing up the strikeouts. He’s in the 90th percentile for strikeout rate and has 86 across 67.2 innings of work.

He’s taking on the Diamondbacks, one of the best offenses in baseball. They have the fourth fewest strikeouts, so there is a recipe to success here.

An unstoppable force against the object. Who wins? For once, I’m choosing the batters.

Shane Baz 5+ (-140)

The Rangers are a very bad offense. They struggle to hit for average and for power and they strikeout the third most in the MLB. The Rays pitching staff has been quite good and Rasmussen carved them up for 8 strikeouts in five innings of work. I expect Baz to do the same and at the very least lock in five.

Dinger of the Day

Cal Raleigh (+235)

We are witnessing one of the best seasons ever by a catcher. You bet I’d love to see him crank one off of Cade Povich.
