Ballpark Bets: Strikeouts, Home Runs, Performance Doubles

Joe Ryan 6+ Strikeouts (-175)

The Twins are fun and they are actually fun to watch. Despite the loss yesterday, they’ve been playing a better brand of baseball since the beginning of the month. And the pitching has a lot to do with it and Joe Ryan is a factor as to why.

Ryan is a strikeout machine, ranking in the 90th percentile and having a strikeout rate of 30.6%. Huge. Best part? He’s taking on a Rays offense who isn’t exactly beating down the door and sits 15th in strikeouts. It’s a good recipe and a good mark.

As always, I will ride with the pitchers.

Flaherty 6+ Strikeouts/ Webb 6+ Strikeouts (+170)

This is the pitching matchup of the evening. Logan Webb vs Jack Flaherty. Get the popcorn ready.

Flaherty is prone to the strikeouts this season. The Giants have faired out better against righties than lefties, but Flaherty can hit this mark. He ranks in the 80th percentile for strikeout rate. Five seems to be his sweet spot, but he has hit the six strikeout mark in three of four outings this month.

Webb is having a career season it seems. His strikeout rate has risen over 6% from last season to this season. He has quite the challenge against this pesky Tigers offense, but he has been an absolute unit this season, so hitting six in my mind is very doable.

Nathan Eovaldi 6+ (+110)

Nasty Nate back on the bump and it is always a treat when he is out there. This is also against the Blue Jays, who did not record a single strikeout against deGrom (which NEVER happens) and are a team with good players approach striking out fewer than most teams in the league. As always, I bet on the pitcher.

Eovaldi has a 1.60 ERA and has 71 strikeouts in 67.1 innings pitched. His command is impeccable and his K% ranks in the 80th percentile. In his starts this season, he’s failed to reach six most twice. I like those odds.

Bonus Bet

Corbin Carroll Homerun (+215)

Who doesn’t love a bonus pick? Carroll is due for a hit and has been hitless in the last four games. He’s due. What a better way to get on track as he takes on the Pirates?

Carroll to the pool!
